01 - Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round or square cake pan.
02 - In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, vegetable oil or melted butter, eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until thoroughly blended.
03 - In a separate bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
04 - Gradually add dry ingredients into wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
05 - Fold in chocolate chips, reserving a small amount for topping.
06 - Pour batter into prepared cake pan and sprinkle reserved chocolate chips across the surface.
07 - Bake in preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake emerges clean or with a few moist crumbs.
08 - Allow cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing for serving.
